About Our Business Lux really began in 1978 with my first child. I was a full-time college student with a newborn, while working temporary jobs to make ends meet. Chaos was my middle name and I just had to figure out a way to do it all without forgetting the diaper bag or running out of diapers. I began packing for school, work and daycare, the night before and I began packing one diaper with a wet mildly soapy cloth, tissue paper to lay my baby on so I would not have to carry extra layette blankets, and a small plastic bag for the dirties. The packages were so compact they fit right into my book bag and even my purse. Everywhere I went people commented on the great idea, and when Christmas came around and I found myself needing a little extra cash, I packaged up my bags of new Bloomers and put them on the counter at 5 local convenient stores. They sold out quickly. Soon my second child came, and in my last year of college, I got a wonderful job - great career advancement - but I had offices on both coasts - I also had another baby on the way. With the arrival of my second child, to say my life was chaotic - was putting it mildly. Everywhere I went I took my children, and I also took my single change packs of diapers and pull-ups. Years later, I found myself having to care for my elderly father with cancer. He still liked to go shopping, the movies and just about anywhere he could socialize. My father was incontinent due to cancer and I found myself (oddly) packing single use change kits for my father with one adult pull-up, one package of clean wipes, a clean tissue pad to sit on while he was cleaning himself up, and a small bag for proper disposal. My father told me that he could even fit the single change package into his jacket pocket and nobody even knew, and that made him feel secure - and so did I. I handed out single use adult packages for years while my father was ill, he liked spending time together while making the little packages, the more we made, the more he handed out. My father always said the packages were perfect for anyone who found themselves in a compromising incontinence position whose Lux gotta change, or simply for security while out and about. Now that my father is gone, and my children are grown, my little single use change kit is a full time company. I love every minute of it as it brings back so many wonderful memories of my children and my father. |
